Spicy Meatballs with Harissa

Harissa is a spicy and aromatic paste made from roasted red chili peppers, garlic, herbs and spices like cumin and coriander. 


ingredients for 26 meatballs
  • 300gr beef mince
  • 300gr pork mince
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 50gr panko
  • 80gr milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp harissa
  • 2 Tbsp fresh coriander chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

ingredients for the tomato sauce
  • 700gr crushed tomatoes in can
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 Tbsp tomatopaste
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp oreganο
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 250gr pappardelle



In a bowl combine with your fingers, beef and pork mince with all the other ingredients except olive oil. Shape the mixture into 26 patties approximately 35gr each. 

In a saute pan heat 2 Tbsp olive oil and cook meatballs until become brown on all sides. Remove to a plate.

In the same pan add all the ingredients for the tomato sauce. Cover the pan and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the harissa meatballs and continue cooking for 5-10 minutes.

Serve with pappardelle or any other pasta of your choice and sprinkle with grated cheese.
