Chocolate Cake with Red Wine

  • 210gr all purpose flour
  • 75gr cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 225gr butter
  • 250gr white sugar
  • 100gr brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 300ml red wine


Preheat oven to 180C.
Grease and dust with some cocoa powder a bunt cake form 25cm.
In a bowl sift flour and cocoa powder. Add soda, salt and cinnamon and mix.
In a saucepan melt butter over low heat.
In a large bowl, beat together melted butter and sugars until fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time and vanilla extract until combined.
On low speed, beat in the flour mixture alternating with the wine until all ingredients are combined.

Pout the batter into the prepared form and bake for 45-50 minutes. Insert a knife, if it comes out clean the cake is ready. Allow the cake to cool in the form for 10 minutes, then turn it out in a platter.

Enjoy it with a glass of the red wine you used in the recipe.
It is important to choose a full-bodied red wine. 
I used a shyrah 13,5vol.
